Lupin Part 4 Netflix: Release Date, Cast, Story (Oct 23)

One of Netflix’s biggest non-English hits is back. Lupin Part 4 premieres on Netflix on Friday, October 23, 2026, with all eight episodes dropping at once — and this time, Omar Sy’s gentleman thief Assane Diop isn’t the only “Lupin” on the loose.

The official trailer opens with a line designed to send fans into a frenzy: “We have a new Lupin.” After waiting since 2023 for the French heist drama’s return, viewers finally get answers about Assane’s fate behind bars — and a brand-new mystery that pulls him straight back into the game.

Here’s everything we know about Lupin Part 4: the release date and release time, the plot, the returning and new cast members, and what the trailer reveals.

Lupin Part 4 Release Date: When and Where to Watch

Lupin Part 4 premieres on Netflix on Friday, October 23, 2026. Unlike weekly-release shows, this is a full-season drop — all eight episodes will be available to binge from day one.

The new installment is listed in Netflix’s October calendar, and the streaming giant has confirmed the date across its official channels, including Tudum. The official trailer, released on September 14, 2026, is available on Netflix’s YouTube channel.

For fans who need to catch up: Parts 1 to 3 — 17 episodes in all — are streaming on Netflix right now. If you’re new to the series, start from Chapter 1: Parts 1 and 2 (2021) form one continuous story, while Part 3 (2023) ended with Assane behind bars.

Eight episodes, each around 45 minutes long, is the standard Lupin format — plenty of room for at least a couple of signature grand heists. If French heist thrills are your thing, you’ll also want to check out our coverage of Gajab Raat: Manoj Bajpayee’s Netflix thriller, another gripping crime drama streaming this season.

The Story So Far: What Happened at the End of Part 3

(Spoilers for Lupin Parts 1–3 ahead.)

Part 3 ended with Assane Diop voluntarily behind bars. After stealing the Black Pearl, winning over the French public, and faking his own death to save his estranged mother, Assane made the hardest choice of all: he turned himself in to protect his wife Claire, his son Raoul, his mother Mariama, and his best friend Ben from the fallout of his criminal life.

It was a bittersweet ending — the master thief finally accepting consequences so his family could live in peace. Part 4 picks up four years after those events, and Assane’s plan is simple: serve his sentence quietly, keep his head down, and eventually honour a promise to his son to visit family in Senegal.

Of course, in the world of Lupin, nothing ever goes to plan.

Lupin Part 4 Plot: Assane vs. the Copycat

The trailer for Part 4 finds Assane Diop locked away in prison — literally shown confined in a glass box — while chaos unfolds outside. A mysterious announcement signed by “Lupin” reveals that multiple museums across France are about to be hit in a series of coordinated heists.

The twist? Assane is still imprisoned. Someone else is operating under his name.

As Deadline reported, the police start hunting for “a new Lupin” — a copycat who appears to be deliberately pinning the thefts on Assane. The trailer shows a camera placing Assane at a museum during a robbery in which Captain Sofia Belkacem is seriously injured, even as Assane proclaims his innocence from his cell.

This forces Assane into an impossible position. His only desire was to start anew with his family, but the emergence of the impersonator forces him to reconnect with his brilliant schemes — to prove his innocence and unmask whoever is wearing his mask.

From horse chases through the streets of Paris to scaling the Eiffel Tower, the trailer promises the new season will be anything but calm. Maurice Leblanc’s literary inspiration runs deep too: the cliffs of Étretat in Normandy, central to Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin novel The Hollow Needle, remain part of the series’ visual DNA.

Whether the copycat is a devoted fan, a rival, or someone with a personal vendetta against Assane remains one of the season’s biggest questions — and fans won’t have to wait long for answers.

Lupin Part 4 Cast: Who Returns and Who’s New

Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop, the charming gentleman thief at the heart of the series. Sy told Netflix’s Tudum that Lupin is “an extraordinary plaything” he finds “great joy” in returning to every season.

The returning cast, as announced by Netflix, includes:

  • Ludivine Sagnier as Claire, Assane’s wife
  • Antoine Gouy as Benjamin Ferel, Assane’s best friend
  • Soufiane Guerrab as Youssef Guédira, the detective who idolises Lupin
  • Shirine Boutella as Sofia Belkacem, the captain caught in the line of fire

Joining the cast for Part 4 are two newcomers: Théo Christine (Supacell, Skam France) and Laïka Blanc-Francard (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon). Netflix has kept their character details firmly under wraps, which only adds to the speculation — could one of them be the copycat?

One notable absence: Etan Simon, who played Raoul Diop (Assane and Claire’s son) in the first three parts, does not appear to be returning for Part 4, according to TV Insider. Whether Raoul is written out or recast remains to be seen.

Behind the camera, series creator George Kay returns in collaboration with François Uzan, with Louis Leterrier serving as showrunner alongside Omar Sy. Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout and Hugo Gélin direct Part 4, produced by Gaumont in collaboration with Carrousel Studios.

Strong ensemble casts are a hallmark of the best Netflix originals — and if you enjoy series with gripping character dynamics, don’t miss Nobody Wants This Season 3, also streaming on Netflix.

Lupin Part 4 Trailer & What the Footage Reveals

The official trailer, titled “Lupin: Part 4 | Official Trailer,” dropped on Netflix’s YouTube channel on September 14, 2026. Beyond the “new Lupin” hook, the footage is packed with the series’ trademarks: elaborate disguises, sowing confusion among the police, and heists executed with theatrical flair.

Tudum notes that the thefts go ahead despite heightened security at the museums, suggesting the copycat is as skilled — or as reckless — as Assane himself. The question the trailer keeps circling is simple and maddening: how much of what we’re seeing is really Assane’s doing, and how much is the impersonator?

For heist and thriller fans waiting out the week, the countdown to October 23 has plenty of company: Baby Do Die Do, Huma Qureshi’s assassin thriller, and Chaar Yaar, Prime Video’s crime drama, are both fresh additions to the streaming calendar.

Is Lupin Part 4 the Final Season?

Netflix has not confirmed whether Part 4 will be the last chapter of Assane Diop’s story. With the copycat storyline offering a natural climax — Assane confronting his own legacy, literally embodied by someone else — it could serve as a fitting finale. But given the show’s enduring popularity as one of Netflix’s flagship non-English series, a Part 5 is far from impossible.

What we know for sure: on October 23, 2026, eight new episodes of Lupin land on Netflix, Omar Sy is back in the long coat, and Paris has a brand-new gentleman thief problem. Whether the copycat is friend or foe, this is one binge you won’t want to sleep on.
